Theatre Royal-2

Norwich Theatre Royal is the largest and most successful theatre in the East of England with over 400,000 people attending annually to watch 400 performances, ranging from shows for pre-school age children to grand opera, and everything in between.

As part of the NTR’s exciting development programme in Spring 2019 Elite Foodservice Design were invited to design and develop a new kitchen layout, re-imagining the existing work-flow and modifying many aspects of the kitchen with an ambitious new vision.

After our initial visit, survey and discussions, we created technical layouts and a series of 3D design visuals, backed up with a strong specification of high-quality catering equipment.

Having never been originally intended to be a commercial kitchen, the area proved to be complicated and large support columns had to be incorporated into our design. Utilising our experience with our marine galleys, we created separate preparation, wash and store areas to support a newly repositioned cookline and chef’s pass.

Following the awarded of the full fit-out contract, we began working closely with the client and the building/mechanical contractor, collectively creating a complete schedule-of-works in order to carry out a very fast turnaround of all areas. We provided full electrical, plumbing and gas pipework drawings in order to fully service the new kitchen.

EFD’s installation consisted of all wall, floor and ceiling finishes, as well as high-class stainless steel fabrication, bespoke coldroom and leading-brand catering equipment.

We worked closely with our approved equipment suppliers and trusted partners including; Rational, Falcon Foodservice, Williams Refrigeration, Meiko Warewashing, CED Fabrication and Altro hygienic finishes.

Fully project managed on site from start to finish, the project was completed and handed over within our 4-week schedule and as per our agreed budget.
