When we first met with Tim Irven, owner, and head chef of Boston House Restaurant, we discussed and produced a clear vision of what we wanted to achieve with the building. It had always been his dream to open his own fine dining restaurant and when this building came available it was obvious that we could create something quite special.

Firstly, an open-plan kitchen, situated in the heart of the main dining room, allowing customers to see their food being prepared and engage in the vibrant kitchen environment.

Basement preparation areas, including a dedicated bakery room, and storage solutions. This included a wine cellar and a bespoke integral coldroom.

A new cocktail bar creating an amazing focal point at the front of the restaurant, with upstairs dining areas and private rooms.

Over the course of 6 months, we worked closely with Tim, architects Paul Robinson Partnership, and the local building officers to design and execute the perfect plan. Our design team of experts carefully considered every detail, from the placement of equipment in the kitchen to the selection of materials for the bar area.

A lot of interior refurbishment was required to create the varying spaces we wanted, and bring the building up to the necessary regulations of a multi-story restaurant. Heavy electrical and plumbing works were also required to provide the all-electric kitchen with sufficient power, while allowing for pumped drainage in the underground basement.

The kitchen consisted of state-of-the-art Rational combination ovens and a fully bespoke Control Induction cooking suite. Compact Adande undercounter refrigerated drawers were placed in the kitchen and prep areas providing huge storage capacity and extraordinary yearly energy savings.

With ventilation egress an issue in a building of this nature, we utilised a re-circulating extraction system which meant minimal structural changes to the property, improved indoor air quality due to the filter bank system and compliance with current regulations.

The result was a stunning interior that exceeded expectations. The open-plan kitchen provided a unique dining experience, and the new bar area was a hit with customers of the restaurant. The additional wash-up and storage areas improved the efficiency of the restaurant's operations, making it easier for staff to keep everything clean and organized.
